Workforce take-up is something we take really seriously at PK Safety. We believe that worker satisfaction with the clothing and PPE they are provided with is a crucial factor in whether workers will correctly use the equipment and be adequately protected.
We believe that the supplier has a really important role to play in getting this right and in helping organisations achieve good workforce take-up.
However sometimes working with a supplier can really mess up your workforce take-up.
How??
Suppliers that are keen to promote specific goods and brands to their customers and the market without carefully looking at the comfort and usability features will often end up promoting products that aren’t designed with workforce satisfaction in mind.
This can result in organisations using products that lead to user discomfort or worse to potential accidents.
Another way that suppliers can ruin workforce take-up is by not insisting on their customers undertaking trials and user training before the purchase of new equipment or brands. This leads to either the workforce getting products they don’t like or to products being used incorrectly.
The other way suppliers can upset operator satisfaction is by substituting in different brands and products on orders when they don’t have stock of products that have been previously approved. This can spoil workforce take-up in 1 of 2 ways. Either the substituted products are of a poor quality or of a better quality. The poor quality will have an immediate effect on satisfaction whereas the better quality will cause dissatisfaction when the original product is re-introduced.
